Hard slab building is often used to create angular and sharp-edged boxes, vases, containers as well as sculptures.

Prepare slabs of even thickness and let it dry to leather-hard condition when it is still slightly flexible but stiff enough to be self-supporting. Use a pin or comb to score the edges that are to be joined with other piece of slab. Wet the edges with slip and firmly press the two edges together. Roll out a thin coil of clay and press it down along the internal joint of the slabs. Smooth out all the edges using fingers or hand tools. Finished container made by hard slabs.
